LODGE MANAGER OR MANAGEMENT COUPLE
We're looking for an experienced and passionate Lodge Manager (or Management Couple) to lead the day-to-day operation of The Residence Myoko, a luxury ski-in ski-out lodge in Myoko Kogen, one of Japan's premier alpine destinations.
This is much more than a seasonal management position. It's an opportunity to lead a small, dedicated team and create memorable experiences for guests from around the world. As the face of The Residence, you'll set the tone for every stay, ensuring each guest experiences the genuine warmth, thoughtful hospitality and exceptional service that define our lodge.
Working closely with the owners, you'll oversee all aspects of lodge operations—from welcoming guests and leading the team to coordinating daily logistics and ensuring every detail runs seamlessly. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys leading by example and takes pride in creating an environment where both guests and staff feel genuinely cared for.
Based on site in Myoko Kogen throughout the winter season, this full-time role also offers the opportunity for ongoing year-round employment for the right candidate
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for this position, applicants should meet the following requirements:
Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a Hotel Manager, Lodge Manager, Assistant Hotel Manager or in a similar leadership role within a boutique hotel, luxury lodge or premium hospitality environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead a small team while delivering exceptional guest experiences and maintaining high operational standards.
Strong leadership, organisational and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and support a close-knit team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with guests, manage staff and resolve issues professionally.
Passion for creating thoughtful, memorable guest experiences through genuine hospitality.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
Positive, hands-on attitude with a willingness to lead by example and assist wherever required.
Valid driver's licence and the ability to obtain an International Driving Permit for use in Japan.
Business-level English language skills (spoken and written) are essential for non-native English speakers.
Applicants must hold a valid Japanese Working Holiday Visa or an appropriate work visa that permits employment.
Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified Lodge Manager with 10 or more years of professional experience.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
No two days are the same, and flexibility is essential. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a boutique hospitality environment and takes genuine pride in creating memorable experiences through thoughtful service and attention to detail.
Your responsibilities will include:
Building genuine relationships with guests, anticipating their needs and ensuring every guest feels genuinely welcomed, cared for and remembered throughout their stay.
Leading, mentoring and supporting a small, close-knit team while fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture.
Coordinating the day-to-day operation of the lodge, ensuring all departments work seamlessly together.
Maintaining consistently high standards across housekeeping, food and beverage service, guest areas and overall lodge presentation.
Managing guest enquiries, special requests and resolving issues professionally and proactively.
Coordinating guest transfers, restaurant reservations, transport arrangements and daily activity logistics.
Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies and assisting with operational administration as required.
Ensuring compliance with health, safety and hygiene standards across the lodge.
Working closely with the owners to continually refine operations and enhance the guest experience.
Providing hands-on support across all areas of the lodge—including front-of-house, guest services, housekeeping, bar service and dining—whenever required to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
This is a full-time seasonal position averaging approximately 40 hours per week, depending on lodge occupancy and operational requirements. Team members receive two days off each week.
Employment is available from December 2026 through March 2027 as a minimum. Applicants should be available to commence at any time during December and remain for the full winter season through to the end of March.
HOURS & EMPLOYMENT PERIOD
Competitive seasonal salary of ¥400,000/month.
