Working alongside our chef, you'll help prepare thoughtfully crafted breakfasts and hosted evening dinners using fresh local ingredients while contributing to a dining experience that guests remember long after their stay. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for this position, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years' professional experience as a Cook, Line Cook, Prep Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen role.

  • Experience preparing high-quality meals with a strong focus on flavour, presentation and attention to detail.

  • Professional presentation and a willingness to interact with guests as part of a guest-facing hospitality environment.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining high standards of quality and organisation.

  • Passion for preparing quality food with precision and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Reliable, punctual and highly organised with a positive, professional attitude.

  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a small, close-knit team.

  • Eager to learn, take initiative and continue developing culinary skills within a supportive kitchen environment.

  • Applicants must hold a valid Japanese Working Holiday Visa or an appropriate work visa that permits employment in Japan.

  • Business-level English language skills (spoken and written) are essential for non-native English speakers.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Cook at The Residence Myoko, you'll work alongside our Chef to support the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, helping to create memorable dining experiences that reflect the warmth and hospitality our guests have come to expect.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a collaborative kitchen team and wants to further develop their skills in a premium boutique hospitality environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and cooking of all meals served at the lodge, including made-to-order breakfasts, daily après-ski refreshments, staff meals and hosted evening dinners.

  • Preparing and presenting beautifully plated breakfasts each morning, ensuring dietary requirements are met and every guest begins their day with an exceptional dining experience.

  • Supporting the Chef in the preparation, plating and service of five-course hosted dinners three evenings each week.

  • Preparing ingredients and completing food preparation to ensure kitchen service runs smoothly and efficiently.

  • Helping to maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and portion control across every service.

  • Assisting with stock control, ingredient preparation and kitchen organisation to support efficient daily operations.

  • Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.

  • Taking pride in maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment.

  • Working closely with the Chef to ensure every meal reflects the quality, warmth and hospitality that define The Residence experience.

  • Representing The Residence professionally at all times, as this is a guest-facing role where you'll regularly interact with guests throughout their stay.

HOURS & EMPLOYMENT PERIOD

This is a full-time seasonal position averaging approximately 40 hours per week, depending on lodge occupancy and operational requirements. Team members receive two days off each week.

Employment is available from December 2026 through March 2027 as a minimum. Applicants should be available to commence at any time during December and remain for the full winter season through to the end of March.

  • Competitive seasonal salary based on experience and qualifications starting from ¥270,000/month.

  • Staff accommodation provided at our ski-in ski-out lodge.

  • Daily staff meals.

  • 50% contribution towards a seasonal lift pass..
